Nobody likes germs around them, that’s for sure. But some people can take things a little too far. But sometimes a dislike of germs can become a little too serious, and obsessive-compulsive disorder is the result.
Obsessive compulsive disorder, or OCD, isn’t restricted to simple germ phobia. Other symptoms such as needing to turn lights off and on a certain number of times before entering and exiting a room, being scared of stepping on cracks or lines in a path, and other strange behavior are all symptoms of the possibility of OCD.
Why has this disorder been created? In cave man ages, it was unlikely those with OCD could have survived for very long. The fact is that after some amount of time, they simply would have had to get over it. This is not the case in the world we live in today. In fact, we’re encouraged through advertising and the media to avoid as much germs as we possibly can. This means that although in older times dirt was simply a reality that had to be put up with, someone who has developed a fear of germs now can easily alter their behavior so that coming into contact with germs will never be a problem.
But something occurs when a person is scared of germs, then manages to remove them out of there life. The desire to be free of germs isn’t actually dependent on whether any germs are actually around. So although the house might be germ free, the need to clean and not get sick will remain. So the habits of those who still have to get rid of the non-existent germs grow and grow. Each cake of soap can only be used once, gloves have to be warn before turning taps on and off, and not many other people can enter into the spotless house.
What can people who have OCD do to help themselves with this problem? An insensitive piece of advice would be to say, “Just forget about it”. One way to solve this issue is to have the person address the way they are conducting their life. How much television, with its ridiculously spotless environment, are they consuming? How much advertising, always telling us that we are not clean or nice enough, are they exposed to? With this never-ending barrage of people telling us how to live, shouldn’t it be cause for surprise that we’re not all totally crazy?
By addressing some of these issues, a real solution to OCD may reveal itself to us.

When you have a co-worker or friend who is getting ready to retire, you may start thinking about what would be a unique retiree gift. There are, of course, traditional gifts for retirement, given to every retiree at every retirement party. If you don’t want to do the same old thing for your co-worker or friend, then consider some alternative ideas. Think about what your retiree is interested in and match your gift in that way. When you take into consideration their feelings, wants and wishes, you can’t help but give a gift that will be a hit.
Look around for gifts that are related to something that the gift recipient has a special interest in. For more expensive items, suggest your ideas to other co-workers to pool your resources. As well, the company will also give the retiring employee a gift, perhaps a watch, award or plaque, paperweight, ornament, key fob, flask, desk clock, luggage tags, mug or pen set, which are all very nice and adequate, but lets face it, they are all rather impersonal and generic and more than likely will not be displayed or used by the retiree.
The best gifts for retirement can be just giving the retiree something to look forward to. Tickets to an upcoming sporting event, play or concert can be a very exciting and thoughtful gift. There are also getaway vacation booklets available that allows the retiree to choose a vacation or weekend get-away. Other personalized retirement gifts can include golfing accessories like shoe bags, personalized golf balls or a valuables pouch.
Of course with so many choices available, it’s hard to pick just one. There are a wide variety of gifts for retirement in a plethora of colors, styles and themes to fit almost all personality types. As you hunt for the perfect gift, you can be confident in any choice you make if you purchase an item that you know the retiree wants, will use and will really enjoy. One of the most agonizing moments in anyone’s life is when dear beloved dies. And it is even harder to think things clearly at this point. Many times, the folks of the dead is left confused whether to choose a conventional interment or cremation. It would have been good if the deceased has expressed, be it in words or in writing, his wishes prior to his death. Nonetheless, in the absence of a final will, the family should {decide|choose on what is best for the dear departed.
Cremation is the way of placing the corpse to very high heat in order to vaporize and oxidize it, and condense it into bone fragments. The dried up bones are then {put|placed into a cremulator to undergo pulverization until it seems to be powder-like. The powdered remains are what we generally call as ashes of the dead. The so-called ashes may be buried, scattered in special locatons, or kept in an urn by the family.
Nowadays, lots of people are selecting cremation for their dead loved ones. One major reason is the lower cost of service compared to a customary burial. Another reason is the ease of the whole process, allowing the family more time to grieve. Others prefer to keep a quantity of their loved one’s ash remains in their home, providing them the security blanket or feeling that their loved one is just there.
When the family chooses to have cremation, they still have the choice to accomplish a traditional memorial service, prior to the actual cremating process. Public viewing, reading of the Bible, praying, and eulogy can still be offered. Nothing is utterly different in the wake, except that the corpse will be cremated after.
It’s always best to keep the memorial service as easy as can be, so you will have ample time to grieve without any other worries.
